João Lima: “The plan is to live between London and Lisbon”

As a 10-year-old, João Lima – originally from Portugal’s capital Lisbon – told his mom that he would like to study abroad. Years after, in 2011, his childhood dream turned into reality when he moved to London to study journalism. Breaking into the industry is never easy, but João is on the right path.

“When I moved to London in 2011, I couldn’t find a job for five months, even though I was already studying. I started in McDonalds, then moved to two other shops where I was working until I finished my studies.”

At London Metropolitan University, João founded CNT International, a news platform in both English and Portuguese – the website attracted visitors from all over the world.

Currently, the 23-year-old works as the Editor of Data Economy, a news source dedicated to the “world of data centres, cloud and the IoT“. He is specialised in different fields, including the European Union’s Digital Single Market.

Additionally, João has also worked as a reporter at Computer Business Reviewed, and has done work experience at UK’s Daily Mail, Channel 4 News, Channel 4 and The Guardian.
